In a rural community, quick access to high-level emergency services is critical. Our Emergency Department is open around the clock, seven days a week, and is staffed at all times by the highly qualified, experienced physicians of Bassett Healthcare. Every nurse in the department is credentialed in basic life support, trauma care, pediatric advanced life support, and advanced cardiac life support.
The doctors and nurses of Cobleskill Regional Hospital’s Emergency Department care for more than 12,000 patients per year. Patients of all ages, with all types of illnesses or injuries, are treated, regardless of ability to pay. About one in three of our patients requires high-level emergency care, so we’re accustomed to dealing with medically complex emergencies.
For most cases, we provide total diagnosis, care, and treatment on site. For those who need the highly specialized services of a major medical center, Cobleskill Regional Hospital serves as a gateway to the appropriate level of needed services. In many instances, our affiliation with Bassett Healthcare facilitates access to advanced services and follow-up at Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown and with Bassett Healthcare specialists.
For example, we may –
- Quickly diagnose, and stabilize a stroke victim and then provide safe transfer to a stroke center;
- Stabilize a trauma victim who is then transported via helicopter or ambulance to a trauma center; or
- Administer clot-busting drugs to a heart attack patient during the early hours of the attack and then provide quick access to angioplasty or heart surgery programs.
So whether it’s a sprain or a broken bone… a bee sting or a stroke … an accident on the farm, at home, or on the road…we’re always ready to deliver the care you really need in a medical emergency.
